Get a good writing technique

Getting started

Starting a written assignment can be challenging. You have many pages ahead of you, and you may be feeling that you have been looking at a blinking cursor for too long. Here are some tips for getting started.

It is different how we prefer to work, and you may already have a method that works well for you. However, if you find it difficult to get started on a paper, try letting your interests control your writing. Many students find it more effective to begin by writing content, and then structure their writing as they go along. Just write what you can, when you can. Do not stop yourself, and do not worry if what you write does not feel essential to the main direction you want it to go. All writing is useful writing - you learn from it all, and one thought will feed the next.

There is no one right way to write, so allow yourself to be curious and experiment with different writing techniques. In this way, you are more likely to find a writing technique which suits you and your learning style.
