What challenge or problem are you trying to solve with your idea/startup?

“We are a game development startup that makes strategy games for mobile phones. Right now we are close to releasing our second game project. At SimpleBit Studios, we want to stand out for making well-crafted mobile games that our users love to play. That is why we are deeply involved in the contact with the players on the international forum that arose around our first game. In the close dialogue with our users, children and young people up to approx. 10 years old, we get feedback and ideas for new games and we give and receive sparring on game technical challenges. For us, games and game development are about creating community.” Bertin Arpac, Co-Founder, SimpleBit Studios

What does the AAU Startup Grant mean for your startup's development right now?

"The AAU Startup Grant helps us get closer to the dream of being able to work full-time on game production. We are currently generating a small startup income based on our first game. But to give our new game a good start in a highly competitive market, we need plenty of visibility on the platforms from which mobile games are reviewed and downloaded.” Bertin Arpac, Co-Founder, SimpleBit Studios

We have used the AAU Startup Grant to give the company a big marketing boost, which has paid off by increasing sales

What made you apply for the AAU Startup Program/ seek out entrepreneurship as graduates?

“We are three Co-Founders at SimpleBit Studios. We share an interest in drawing and making games and knew each other before starting university. Alongside our studies, we enjoyed making games for fun and sought out the informal startup environment for game developers at AAU. It was great to meet like-minded people and we got in touch with an affiliated AAU business advisor, which led to us being accepted into the AAU Startup Program. Here we have updated the game we had already released and developed the community approach for our users. Two of us have completed our bachelor's programs and have chosen to put further education on hold to pursue the development of the startup. It is now, before we become too established, that we have the time and the financial freedom to do so.” Bertin Arpac, Co-Founder, SimpleBit Studios
