Study Environment Day 2024
Community in your student life
Study Environment Day 2024
Community in your student life
At AAU, we have an ambition that you and your fellow students have the opportunity to be part of academic and social communities that help strengthen your well-being and commitment to your student life. But good communities do not come by themselves. It requires both courage to get involved, and strength to maintain the good cooperation and way of interacting. You are thus helping to create a good study environment at AAU.
- And that's why the Study Environment Day 2024 put the spotlight on communities in your student life!
What was on the program?
The day began with a welcome by the chairpersons of the Study Environment Council, Pro-rector Anne Marie Kanstrup and student Daniel Sejr Vitagliano. In their speech, the focus was on the importance of communities in student life, including that being part of a study group and social communities can be difficult, but at the same time meaningful and educational in relation to future working life.
Through the following presentation, psychologist Johann Daustrand from the Student Counselling Service made the participants wiser about the community's unique benefits and opportunities, as well as the significance it can have for students. Johann also talked about possible stereotypical and unrealistic expectations of the community.
After the presentation, the participants could immerse themselves in the workshop whose topic they were most interested in.
Depending on which workshop they chose, they could either help develop ideas and provide input on how we create good communities at AAU, or they could become more informed about what they can do to be part of and contribute to communities. The following workshops were offered:
The formal programme concluded with a panel discussion. The panel will consist of the three workshop holders and three student representatives. During the day, the participants could send in questions and vote on other students' questions, which the debate was then based on. Among other things, the panel gave their best advice on how students get into communities and how we can help and embrace the students who are outside the community.
Ending with pizza and board games
During the day there was free coffee, tea, cake, popcorn, pizza, soft drinks and snacks.
After dinner, the students had the opportunity to visit various student associations' stands and to challenge their known or new fellow students in various board games.
