When you have a university degree, it is rare that you can only apply for one job title. There is more than one answer when you consider how you can apply one or the other education. But how do you explore which paths your career can take and where can you find inspiration?

When you have a university degree, it is rare that you can only apply for one job title. There is more than one answer when you consider how you can apply one or the other education. But how do you explore which paths your career can take and where can you find inspiration?

"What can I become?" is a good question that can lead to good reflections about your experiences, skills, possibilities, wishes and dreams.

"What will I become?" however, often hides behind the question - implying that with a certain education you are predestined for a particular job. But it is not necessarily so.

On this page, you can find some tools that can hopefully inspire you, regardless of your situation - e.g., if you are about to graduate or if you are about to choose a master's degree.

Find inspiration in others' career paths

Look into what others with a similar professional profile have succeeded in, and use that as inspiration for the various opportunities you have.

Just because many others have gone in a specific direction doesn't mean that you have to go the same way.

What if my study programme is very specific?

Some jobs or industries may be more obvious than others but it is completely up to you to choose in what direction you wish to go.

If you study law you CAN become a lawyer, but you don’t HAVE to. You can also work as e.g. a clerk or work with something completely different, e.g. as a self-employed entrepreneurs.

What if my study programme is very broad?

Here, you must define a job market relevant for your academic and personal profile.

Try to think about the common thread in your studies: What has been exciting and what have you worked with in your projects?
